Skill distribution statistics posted on 03 May 2009 by Morthy

One of the great things about running a site like Weststats is that we end up with a great deal of data.

We recently generated a report to show which skills are the most popular across all The-West worlds. To achieve this we simply looped through every imported skill set (for registered users) and calculated the sum for each skill.

To see the results, check out the forum thread here.

We hope to continue publishing interesting statistics and reports regularly.

Quick update, site optimization posted on 26 Mar 2009 by Morthy

We've just had to push a new update to the site due to database changes that wouldn't show well on the site without new code.

The biggest new change is a feature that lets you track your quest progress. Simply login, select the world and go look at a quests page. On the right of each quest listing you can click on the red cross to mark the quest as complete. Weststats will remember this information permanently and in the future we'll build more tools that can use this data.

A lot of time and effort has been put into refactoring and optimizing the code as well as introducing lots more caching. The site should seem speedier (especially the job calculator) but the massive amount of code changes combined with the hurried release means we might have missed a few little bugs. If you find anything wrong or broken, please use the Contact link on the site navigation!

Lastly, we've been working on a few other nifty features recently like a town shop import script and a proper multilingual search. The features are nearly done but we're going to give them some more testing and thought before releasing them!

All the best,
Weststats staff

We've updated the quests page with a new layout and overall system. This should make it much easier to find information on Quests.

As well as this we have added information on around 150 new quests that were introduced in The West version 1.17 (the character quests).

Job Calculator update posted on 06 Dec 2008 by Morthy

Firstly there has been a small change to importing your skills. Your *base* skills will now be imported, not your skills with bonuses added.

The main changes are some new features for the Job Calculator tool.

You can now choose what bonuses to apply when calculating your labour points for each job. If you want to see the results with your base skills, you can select 'None'. If you want to see the results with your equipped items (like the old job calculator) you can select 'my currently equipped items'.

However, there is now a 3rd option which we think is the best so far. You can select 'my best items for the job'. This will make the job calculator scan your inventory for each job, select the best items and then calculate your labour points based on if you are wearing those items. Using this feature you can see all the jobs you can do if you were to change your clothing from just one page.

But how do you know which items to wear? This is where the 2nd new feature for the job calculator becomes useful. You can choose to show the best items to wear from your inventory, and the job calculator will tell you which you should wear for each job. Just hover your mouse over the job image and a list will be shown.

Lastly, you can also choose to show the best item out of all the items in the game. This is good for choosing what items you should invest in in the future.

We've added the majority of all the weapons now to our weapons page. The only items that are missing right now are one's that haven't been discovered by anyone yet. They are not purchasable from shops and can only be found while doing jobs. Good luck :)

Site available in Portuguese posted on 21 Oct 2008 by Morthy

Big thanks to Beatriz Bruzzi for helping us translate the site in to Portuguese. You can now select your language using the flags in the top left of the page.

We are looking for people to help out with translating the site in to the following languages: German, Czech, Polish, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Romanian.

If you are interested please contact us. You must be very proficient in both English and the language you will be translating in to.

Cheers,
- WestStats team

Updates! posted on 04 Oct 2008 by Morthy

Just over a week ago the first version of West Stats launched, and now we're updating it with more than twice as many features.

First is the account system. You can now register an account to provide you with many useful benefits. These can be seen on the register page. In your control panel you can easily import your skills and inventory within 10 seconds.

Reasons to register:

* Store your skills and inventory per world
* Enhanced job calculator page compares your skills and the job's requirements
* Enhanced inventory view lets you view your inventory in a more manageable way with item stacking
* Coming soon: Easily compare your inventory to future quest requirements so you can see what items you need
* Support the future development of The West Stats
* It's free!

Two new features are the Publicise Skills and Publicise Inventory tools. These let you easily show your friends or townmates what skills you have and what you have in your inventory. Like importing data to the control panel, it only takes seconds to import your data here.

Example of imported skills: http://www.weststats.com/Skillset/example/
Example of imported inventory: http://www.weststats.com/Inventory/example/

The new scripts page will contain useful scripts to help you play.

Once you have imported your skills as a registered user, you will be able to use the job calculator. This is an enhanced version of the Jobs page, that takes your skills in to account and lists how many labour points you have or will need.

We've also added tons more items, and all the quests up to level 23.

In the quests page you can also now filter by one quest group.

Lastly, there is a simple search engine for searching clothing. This will be improved very soon.

Welcome to the brand new The West Stats site, dedicated to providing the latest information and databases for The West players.

As the game is still in early stages it is not yet possible to get information about all items, even on the German version which has been going for many months not all items have been discovered yet.

If you have any feedback, suggestions or want to write a guide for display on this site please use the Contact link on the left.

At the time of this post we have information on 25 quests, 69 jobs and around 60 inventory items.
